Every journey begins with a spark, and for me, that spark was art.
Growing up, I was always drawn to creativity—whether through painting, drawing, or just expressing myself in colorful, meaningful ways. That passion led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, followed by a Postgraduate qualification in Art and Design Secondary Education. Through these experiences, I learned that art is not just about technique, but about self-expression and the joy of discovery.
My professional path began with teaching secondary school students, ages 11 to 18. I found immense joy in watching them discover their own artistic voices. I encouraged them to experiment, learn new techniques, and most importantly, believe in themselves and their ability to create. But it wasn’t just about the classroom; I also led workshops for primary school children, seeing first-hand how powerful art can be in helping children build confidence and find their voice from a young age.
The real turning point, however, came when I became a mother. I have three wonderful boys, each with additional needs. Parenting has taught me something invaluable about education: every child is unique, and each one learns in their own way. This realization deepened my understanding of the importance of tailoring teaching to meet individual needs. I wanted to create an environment where every child could feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore new skills at their own pace.
That’s when the idea for Art-At-Home was born. I wanted to bring the joy of learning and creating into the home, offering a welcoming, personal space where children could explore art in a way that felt natural and fun. A place where they could learn without pressure, build confidence with new mediums, and truly enjoy the process of creation.
Art-At-Home is more than just a space to learn; it’s a place to grow skills, connect with artists of the past and present, and create some interesting art works. I’m excited to share this journey with you and your children—because creativity is for everyone, and I believe every child deserves the chance to experience the magic of art.
